Nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, The Crown Hotel sits right on the banks of the River Ribble, beneath the iconic Pen-y-ghent. We’re proud to be one of only a handful of hotels actually on The Pennine Way — a favourite stop for walkers, cyclists, and explorers tackling the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks: Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough, and Whernside.
After a day of walking, biking, or sightseeing, you’ll find everything you need right here: a friendly welcome, hearty home-cooked food, locally sourced wherever possible, and a proper pint of Yorkshire ale by the fire. In the warmer months, our spacious beer garden — with its picture-perfect view of the surrounding countryside — is the perfect place to unwind.
We’re also just a short stroll from Horton-in-Ribblesdale train station on the famous Settle–Carlisle line, so we’re easy to reach whether you’re travelling by car, train, or on foot (the river might be a bit shallow for boats!).
The Crown Hotel offers 10 comfortable rooms, which we’re busy refreshing and redecorating; already with new carpets throughout, new beds, and more improvements to come as part of our ongoing refurbishment programme.

Our ground-floor double room has full wheelchair access and has been adapted for guests with mobility issues. We also accept dogs in this room.
Our traditional Yorkshire bar has a cosy charm — warm and welcoming in winter, cool and inviting in summer. Pull up a chair by the open fire, or enjoy the sunshine in our large beer garden.
We serve a great selection of cask ales alongside other guest beers, wines, spirits, and malt whiskies. Our kitchen serves classic, home-cooked dishes made from quality ingredients — proper food, done well.
Being right at the start and finish of the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, we’re a popular stop for walkers, runners, and outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world. Many of our guests book their next stay before they even leave!
